Abstract: 

Social assessment of technology is often treated as a problem-oriented investigation because it is aimed at solving social and political problems which arise in the life-world and are associated with matters outside of scientific contexts. An interdisciplinary investigation is considered as a means for reaching the objectives put forward by the social assessment of technology. The article discusses a case in the German experience of technology assessment that has to do with robotics: an investigation of replaceability of man with machine.
